THE KILLER AMONG US

The murderer never got caught, despite the Police’s best efforts. He kept on committing sinful acts all around the city. He was always there, among us, fuelling his wicked mind every day in his lonely room. Furthermore, he was just a regular guy, playing with kids in the afternoon, stopping near the grocery shop now and then, going to his religious place of worship, visiting cinema halls, and watching mostly cop films. His presence was omnipresent. He was truly hiding in plain sight all along. What is more dangerous is that you are seeing them every day, walking along the street, often with a grave face, no presence of any smile, who knows what’s going on inside that tiny head. The other day he might be playing cricket with your kid, right in your backyard, asking your son to bowl just one over, and then he will go away, but he’s still there. It’s just that you never know. How do you even know? Can we do anything about it? How much can we be careful? However careful we may be, there will be moments when something will slip from our hands and that’s the moment when fate would have something terrible in store for you. It’s during your most vulnerable times that fate would have it for you, the great surprise, a surprise that will make you quiver, a surprise that will make you repent your minute carelessness and slipperiness your entire life.
