Paprika is a 2006 surreal/fantasy anime film that just pushed me into the world of obscure and absurd dreams. It’s a film that doesn’t require from its viewers the attempt to understand it; instead to experience the journey or the overall cinematic experience.
Paprika directed by Satoshi Kon blurs the bridge between reality and fantasy. From the very beginning, you will realize that you’re going into a completely different zone of cinema.
Paprika through its amazing storytelling shows our battle between our conscious and unconscious thoughts. It shows with really obscure imagery how our mind is filled with things that may not exist in the real world. It shows how absurd and terrifying our dreams can be.
I won’t go into much details as it’s best when you go into these kinds of films without any prior knowledge of the plot.
So check it out guys. It’s available on Netflix.
