School days leave a huge impact in a child’s life. The way a child is taught and brought up influences his or her future. So, when teachers in the school tell a child to memorize this and memorize that to have a good percentage in exams, that leaves a bad impression of that thing in a child’s brain. They start memorizing stuffs but sooner or later that thing gets monotonous and exhausting. How much shall I memorize! That’s the question that pops up in their heads and they begin neglecting studies, and the process goes on and on through the rest of their lives. So, what a child should be instructed to do in school to create their interest in studies?
Well there is a thing called imagination which is, in my opinion, is a very beautiful thing. In the words of Genius Einstein,” Knowledge is not important. Imagination is. Knowledge is limited, but imagination encircles the whole world.” Imagination gives one wings. Children must be instructed to visualize, imagine, and create something on their own, such as writing anything they like in their own words; drawing pictures that are popping up in their tiny heads; whatever they are interested in. They should be encouraged to read fascinating stories, which is, in fact, one of the best ways to boost their imagination as they would be imagining themselves in the situation of the protagonist or any character they like from the story. They’ll be engaged in a whole different world of their own where the story and the characters in the story will be their own creating a whole different level of fantasy and imagery than our real world. Reading a Harry Porter story and imagining themselves riding on their magic sticks in the sky can be a beautiful experience for them. It would ultimately increase their interest in reading imaginative fiction that will transport to another realm altogether.
Imagination is the portal through which many scientists like Einstein and Newton have contributed amazing theories to science. Einstein used to enact a lots of thought experiments in his own mind; in fact, many are still correct. Artists use imagination for their work; whether it is painting or music or writing or designing. These artistic habits must also be cultivated among children to enhance their creativity and imagination. In George Orwell’s dystopian novel 1984, he imagined a whole different world with far different rules than ours. He interpreted a story that would happen in future where everyone is being watched and everything is under surveillance. There is even a character called The Big Brother who has an eye on almost everyone. The most surprising fact is that the novel was written by Orwell in 1949 and the story was set in 1984. But if we look into the plot deeply, it’s actually the depiction of our own society now where almost everything is under surveillance, where freedom of speech is deteriorating. So, my point of taking you through all this is that the author imagined the whole story taking into consideration his then present societal circumstances. And that imagination is coming true. So, we can see how powerful imagination can be. It can create a whole different world. It can transport you to somewhere you have never been or you’ll never be in your whole life.
Dreams are also a part of some kind of imagination. We experience a whole different reality which isn’t actually real. You may think about some occasions where your almost-real-dream woke you up in the middle of the night only to find out that it was only a dream. Sometimes you get disappointed if it were a fairy-tale dream or feel really relieved when it was a nightmare. So these dreams can be interpreted as imaginations that are made up of manipulated images, concepts and propositions or sometimes really abstract images. There were also an art movement in the 20th century where artists made paintings of the unconscious mind by the irrational juxtaposition of images.
So, what are your most fascinating imagination or imaginative world ever. Please let me know in the comment section.
Thank you for reading. Have a good day and don’t let anything ruin your imagination.
